Armed officers were called to reports a man, who appeared to be drunk, was wielding the weapon in the street.
He was found inside a property in Pitsea, Essex, where officers used a battering ram to smash down the front door.
The man was being threatening and violent and police used their Tasers to subdue and arrest him on Thursday evening.
Det Supt Kevin Baldwin, south local policing area superintendent for Essex Police, said: “Officers were called with reports that a male was in the street talking about Nazis.

“It looks like he was intoxicated.
“He has clearly put up resistance or threats because the officers have had to Taser him to control him.”

A spokesman for Essex Police confirmed the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife or bladed article and released on bail until February 13.
He has been placed in the care of mental health professionals.
