British Airways jet declares mid-air emergency before landing at Gatwick
A BRITISH Airways plane has landed safely at Gatwick Airport after declaring a mid-air emergency.
The BA flight declared an emergency following a 'minor technical issue'
Officials said the flight – BA2607 from Naples – requested a priority landing after a "minor technical issue" while flying over the Channel.
It took off from Naples International Airport at 11:26am UK time, 20 minutes later than scheduled, and landed at Gatwick at 13:01pm.
It is not yet known what exactly forced the plane to declare an emergency.

A British Airways spokeswoman told Express.co.uk: "The aircraft landed safely.
"The pilots requested a priority landing as a precaution after a minor technical issue."
The same flight returned to land in Naples last month after reports of a "chemical smell" on board.
The jet took off from Naples at 11:26am and landed at Gatwick at 13:01pm
