BNP expel Nick Griffin for trying to 'destabilise' the party
THE British National Party (BNP) have expelled former leader Nick Griffin after claiming he tried to "destabilise" the party tonight.
The right-wing party said his membership has been withdrawn and alleged that he had harassed BNP members and in one case made physical threats.
They claimed that the 55-year-old had prepared a report which told "lies" about key members of the BNP and he allegedly approved leaks about the party made on the internet.
BNP Party Chairman Adam Walker said: "This has been a difficult decision to make and not one taken lightly.
I've just been 'expelled' without trial from the #BNP! That'll teach me to tell a member of staff he's a 'useless, lazy t***'
"Although we all appreciate that Nick has achieved a lot for our Party in the past, we must also remember that the Party is bigger than any individual.
“Nick did not adjust well to being given the honourary title of President and it soon became obvious that he was unable to work as an equal member of the team and alarmingly his behaviour became more erratic and disruptive."
Mr Griffin stepped down as BNP leader after 15 years in charge in July.
The decision came after he lost his seat in the European Parliament at the May elections.
Mr Griffin took to Twitter afterwards to blast the decision and said that he had been expelled from the party "without trial".
He tweeted: "Breaking news! I've just been 'expelled' without trial from the #BNP! That'll teach me to tell a member of staff he's a 'useless, lazy t***'".
