Megabucks Ewan McGregor is top of the Hollywood Scots
EWAN McGregor is the top earner among Hollywood Scots with £23million in the bank.
The Perth-born actor’s three Star Wars films have helped him to stay top of the charts among fellow actors in the US.
“His estimated net worth comes from a formula that takes out taxes, manager’s fees, agents’ fees, and lifestyle,” said a spokesman for CelebrityNetWorth, who published the figures.
“As a result, he gets to do whatever movie he wants, even though some of them are lacking.”
But McGregor, 43, has to make his money go a lot further – he’s got four daughters to look after – than his nearest rival Gerard Butler who, helped by his £18m, leads a celebrated single life.
Billy Connolly, 71, said to be worth £12m
And the 44-year-old has invested wisely with homes in New York and Hollywood, having made the biggest single paycheque he has received to date – £8.94m for the Spartan warriors film 300 – really work for him.
CelebrityNetWorth praised Butler’s ability to overcome his demons after he completed treatment for abuse of painkillers, a problem that escalated after a surfing incident before Christmas 2011.
In third place is Billy Connolly, 71, said to be worth £12m. “He has built a successful film career as well as earning the respect of many of his peers and comedy fans,” said the California-based financial research company:
The X Men franchise has boosted James McAvoy, 35, to fourth place with an estimated net worth of £10 million.
Those who also figure are: 5, Robert Carlyle, £5.96m; 6, Brian Cox, £4.7m; 7, Billy Boyd, £3.57m; 8, Alan Cumming, £2.98m; 9, Robbie Coltrane, £2.38m, 10, Karen Gillan, £1.19m.
