Teen arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of 'Syria-related' terrorism
A TEENAGER has been arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of being involved in a 'Syria-related' terrorism attack.
The 19-year-old is currently in custody and being questioned by counter-terrorism police at a station in south London.
Officers have searched an address near Camden, north London, in relation to the arrest.
Metropolitan Police said in a statement: "The arrest is not in response to any immediate risk or threat."
Police later confirmed the incident was "Syria-related".
The investigation is still ongoing.
Flights have not been affected by the incident and the airport remains open.
The arrest comes just a week before Heathrow gets set to open its brand new £2.5billion Terminal 2.
Britons make up one of the largest foreign contingents fighting in Syria, along with militants from France, Germany and Belgium.
It is believed around 400 Britons have gone to the war-torn country to wage war in the past two years.
Reports say around 20 Britons have died.
