Fathers' rights campaigner Tim Haries faces trial for Queen graffiti charge
A FATHERS’ rights campaigner will go on trial next year for spraying graffiti over a portrait of the Queen at Westminster Abbey.
Activist Tim Haries, 42, allegedly scrawled “Help” in turquoise paint on the £160,000 oil painting, commissioned to mark the Diamond Jubilee.
Electrical engineer Haries, a father-of-two from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, denies damaging the portrait in June.
Yesterday, he made a brief appearance at London’s Southwark Crown Court where the case was adjourned until January.
The Fathers4Justice campaigner was supported by friends wearing “Help” stickers.
