A shopper has revealed the prime time to swing by supermarkets for the much-coveted yellow sticker discounts.

These markdowns apply to food items that are either discontinued or approaching their sell-by dates, which helps them to sell before they expire.

It also gives customers the chance to get some real bargains – and plenty of savers broadcast their top yellow sticker hauls on TikTok.

One particular shopper's revelations stand out. @thismumcooks on TikTok says the timing for snagging these deals is their "most asked" query.

Pinning down a definitive time slot isn't straightforward, she admits, as it largely varies from region to region. Nonetheless, post-lunch hours frequently yield bargains.

In her description, @thismumcooks notes: "I wish I could tell you the perfect time to shop for reduced items but it is so hit and miss there really isn't a 'RIGHT' answer."

She adds: "Anyone who tells you otherwise is a bit misguided. There are 'BETTER' times but this is dependent on the chain and your local area. What I can say is that some of the best offers I have got have been at random times in the day, when I wasn't looking or expecting them. Keep those eyes peeled and you should find yourself some great bargains."

The video went viral – and it prompted other shoppers to the best times to find yellow sticker bargains at supermarkets. One savvy shopper suggested that early weekend mornings are prime time for deals, while others recommended any time after 4pm on weekdays.

One comment read: "I go to MandS on Saturday at 8am, it's always full of yellow stickers."

Another added: "In ours it's first thing in the morning, 9am – and then at 4pm onwards."

Someone claiming to be a Tesco employee alleged there are "set" times for yellow sticker reductions, stating: "I work in Tesco they are not gone at random times there's a set time 10am, 2pm and 7pm, which 7pm is the best time to go."

Another user confirmed these timings for Tesco. However, other stores and locations may vary.

"At the Co-op it's 6pm for final reductions," one user claimed.
