Driver arrested as tractor kills boy
A BOY aged 11 was killed when he was hit by a tractor at a visitor attraction where he had been working as a farm hand during the summer holidays.
Harry Whitlam, from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, died from injuries suffered in the incident at Swithens Farm in the Rothwell area of Leeds on Friday.
A 48-year-old local man, who has not been named, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving.
Police last night said that he had been released on bail after questioning to allow for further investigation.
The farm released a statement saying: “Our thoughts are with Harry’s family. We’re still not sure of the full circumstances but the accident happened on the working part of the farm.”
