£214 just to host children's birthday party
The average cost of a children’s birthday party is now a whopping £214, according to a survey.
As parents try to outdo each other, some lucky guests are even getting iPods in their gift bags.
A third of parents admitted they splash out so that their child’s party “is better than their friends” and the pressure is so great that nine per cent said they would happily spend at least £800.
The survey, by Littlewoods.com, revealed a trend for more and more extravagant celebrations.
But most children questioned said their idea of the perfect party would be a day at a theme park, lunch at Nando’s – and a guest appearance from David Beckham.
