Britain shivers as more snow blows in
ARCTIC winds and snow swirled around the Angel of the North, near Gateshead, yesterday as winter kept its icy grip on Britain.
Northern England and Scotland have borne the brunt, shivering under a blanket of snow, but the temperature has hovered just above freezing in most areas.
The Met Office warned 50mph winds could mean temperatures will feel nearer -10C (14F) in some areas.
The North could see up to three more inches of snow in the coming days as forecasters predict temperatures could plunge as low as -11C (12F) in Scotland.
