Council miss point of Usain Bolt tribute
THE statue on the right is meant to be Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest man, striking his trademark pose...but it’s pointing the wrong way.
Birmingham City Council spent an estimated £15,000 on the life-size wicker figure of the Olympic hero who is staying
with the Jamaican team in the city.
The 6ft-tall statue shows the 25-year-old sprinter performing his famous “To Di World” pose – but with his right hand
pointing skyward instead of his left.
Bolt’s manager Ricky Simms confirmed: “He always does it to the left.
"That’s the pose. It’s not the pose if he does it to the right.”

A Birmingham City Council spokesman yesterday said: “It is just a floral representation of the man. Next you’re
going to tell me the face doesn’t look like him.”
But office worker Hugo Andrews, 22, from Birmingham, spotted the error and said: “You would have thought the
council would do their homework."
