A footballer has tragically died after a car crashed into a crowd in Nottingham, as a suspect is charged with five counts of attempted murder.
A murder investigation is now underway following the death of a man who was hit by a car at the weekend and "multiple pedestrians" were injured after a red Vauxhall Astra mounted a kerb and struck a group of people in Arnold, Nottinghamshire Police said.
One of the pedestrians, Tyler Fairman, a footballer for Woodthorpe Park Rangers FC, sustained life-threatening injuries and died yesterday (May 12).
Suspect Duane Anthony was arrested on the Saturday evening and charged with five counts of attempted murder on Monday (11 May) morning.
The 40-year-old was additionally charged with aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified and driving without valid insurance. Anthony was remanded into custody on Monday. He is currently next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 8 June.
