A major retailer has opened an enormous store in a UK shopping centre. Primark has opened its latest store in the Ashley Centre in Epsom, Surrey.
Situated in the town's former House of Fraser store, the shutters rolled open at 10am on Wednesday (March 25) to the delight of shoppers. To mark the launch of the fashion retailer’s 199th UK store, customers were greeted by a live DJ. Set over two floors, the shop stocks womenswear, menswear, kidswear, shoes, accessories, beauty, home, and travel products. There are escalators, unisex changing rooms, and self-service tills. More than 90 new retail colleagues have been hired to form the team for the 31,400 sq ft store. This comes after Primark launched its new spring collection earlier this week. The range includes 100% linen pieces to paper-pleat cocoon trousers, a standout satin slip dress and tailored blazer with cinching belt – all at prices starting from £12.

Ewa Klepczuk, Primark Epsom’s store manager, said: “We are so excited to open our doors at such a fantastic shopping destination in the heart of Epsom’s Ashley Centre.
"The team has worked tirelessly to get us to opening day – and now the hard work really begins! I am excited for our future in Epsom, as we know there really is something for everyone here.
"In store, you will find great quality and timeless fashion pieces within our latest spring collection, so we can’t wait to see local shoppers’ reactions as it’s only just landed in our stores nationwide.
"Thank you to the entire Epsom community for the warm welcome so far, and we look forward to meeting more customers in the months ahead.”
Epsom joins nearby Primark locations, including Sutton, Kingston and Guildford. The new store will also offer its click-and-collect service.
Louisa Butters, head of urban destinations (retail and offices) at CBRE Investment Management, owners of The Ashley Centre, said: “Primark is one of the UK’s most recognisable high street brands, and its arrival is a significant moment for the Ashley Centre.
"The store has created new job opportunities for the local community, will drive additional footfall, and further strengthen the centre’s position at the heart of Epsom’s retail offer.
"It builds on the strong momentum generated by last year’s refurbishment and signals the start of an exciting new chapter for the destination.”
