M60 traffic: Huge crash between lorry and car blocks motorway with 45min delays

There are severe delays on the major motorway following a serious crash during the busy rush hour period.

There is traffic chaos on the M60 this morning following a serious crash between a lorry and a car. Lanes 1 and 2 (of 3) have been closed anticlockwise on the major motorway between junction 13 (Worsley) and junction 12 (M602) following the collision. Emergency services and traffic officers have rushed to the scene.

National Highways has warned drivers that there are delays of at least 45 minutes on approach and to allow extra time for their journeys. Traffic service Inrix has said: "M60 anticlockwise entry slip road blocked, long delays, two lanes closed due to accident at J13 A572 Worsley Brow (Worsley). Congestion to J18 (Simister Island)."

Delays have cleared

Traffic monitoring site Inrix has said that the previous "long delays" between J13 and J18 of the M60 anticlockwise have now cleared.

'Long delays' persist

There remain "long delays" on the M60 anticlockwise, traffic monitoring site Inrix said, following the crash at J13. Congestion has backed up to J18 (Simister Island).

Delays of 45 minutes

National Highways confirmed delays of 45 minutes while traffic gets back to normal following the crash. All lanes are now open between J13 and J12 anticlockwise.

Five miles of congestion

While all lanes of the M60 have now reopened, there are still five miles of congestion, National Highways said.
