Too hot for the Downton Abbey, m’lord
JULIAN FELLOWES has swapped the stately drama of Downton Abbey for a steamy Hollywood blockbuster.
The newly ennobled writer has penned The Tourist, starring Angelina Jolie as a mysterious seductress who meets an American traveller in Europe, played by Johnny Depp.
The film contains red-hot scenes that would make Downton Abbey’s Dowager Countess, played by Dame Maggie Smith, pass out.

“One sex scene in the shower leaves little to the imagination,” reports a source on the production. Oscar winner Fellowes wrote an early draft of the script before being replaced by other writers but was re-hired when the film was in production in Venice.
“I can’t think of another writer who has bookended a script like that, normally they just throw you off the project and that’s that,” he said.
“It was fascinating.
“The film was originally set in the South of France which I thought was rather boring. We’ve seen it so many times, so I thought, ‘Why not Venice?'”
