Wolds Wildlife Park is a popular wildlife park based in Lincolnshire. The family-favourite park, located in Horncastle, will no longer be open to visitors with its owners stating “irreconcilable differences in the future direction of the park”.

The announcement will come as a shock to many animal lovers.

Wolds Wildlife Park was a major visitor attraction for all ages and upon its opening remained one of the most visited venues in the region.

The statement read: “It is with extremely heavy hearts that we have to announce the closure of the Wolds Wildlife Park until further notice.

“Financially and emotionally we are really proud of the successful growth and constant improvements we’ve been able to make to the park since it opened in December 2019, and to sincerely wish and thank all of our loyal customers who have helped make the Wolds Wildlife Park a fabulous visitor attraction for all, and a huge asset to Horncastle.

"Unfortunately, due to the business owners having irreconcilable differences in the future direction of the park, there are very few viable options remaining to help keep this wonderful venture going."

Wolds Wildlife Park’s early inception began through Steve Nichols - a visionary behind The National Parrot Sanctuary.

The groundbreaking work at the Parrot Zoo Trust led the organisation to gain recognition from national and local animal welfare bodies.

This led to the park opening its doors to a diverse array of other mammals and birds including the largest collection of Bengal Tigers in the UK.

The news of the park’s closure has left many devastated with one social media user writing: “Absolutely awful news. I’ve enjoyed every visit to Wolds.

“Great facilities, well looked after animals and brilliant keepers. Feels like Lincolnshire has lost a brilliant attraction."

Another echoed this dismay, saying: "So sad to read this, we have visited your amazing park several times over the last few years.

“It has been truly amazing to see such well-kept wild animals. Hope that you will be able to come to some compromise over the park you will truly be missed."
