Abercynon fire LIVE: 'Large' blaze erupts as thick smoke impacts A470
Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.

A large blaze has erupted in Wales, prompting a large emergency response. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it is attending an industrial fire at Ty Menter, Navigation Park, Abercynon. The fire service said: "Multiple crews, appliances, and specialist rescue equipment including aerial ladder platforms, high volume pumps and water bowsers are at the scene, as the incident remains ongoing.
"Residents living nearby are advised to close all windows and doors due to the smoke in the area. Smoke is also impacting the nearby A470. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area to allow for emergency response."

Equipment being used
Multiple crews and appliances remain at the scene.
Specialist rescue equipment is needed to try and extinguish the fire including aerial ladder platforms, high volume pumps and water bowsers.
'Close all window and doors'
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has advised local residents to keep all windows and doors shut.
This is due to smoke in the area which is also impacting the A470.
Motorists are still asked to avoid the area whilst emergency service respond to the incident.
Police assisting with traffic
Officers from South Wales police are currently assisting with traffic.
A spokesperson said: "At this time, no roads are closed."

The blaze at Navigation Park in Abercynon can be seen through the top floor windows of the buidling.

'Horrific noise' reported
A witness who was passing the building said he heard a "horrific noise" about an hour ago.
Speaking to WalesOnline, he believed this may have been caused by "the remaining roof caving in".
Footage shows scale of major Abercynon fire
footage shared on social media has revealed the scale of a major fire at Navigation Park in Abercynon.
The video, posted by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council leader Cllr Andrew Morgan, shows large plumes of thick black smoke billowing into the sky from the industrial estate, which is adjacent to council buildings.

A470 also affected
South Wales Fire and Rescue has asked people to avoid the area.
A spokesperson said:
"Members of the public are advised to avoid the area to allow emergency response.
"Smoke from the fire is also affecting the nearby A470."
Location
The fire is reproted to be at Ty Menter, Navigation Park, Abercynon off the A470.
