Rail chaos LIVE: Major disruption on multiple lines after two people hit by trains
There are severe delays at Euston station this afternoon, with trains to Milton Keynes, Manchester and Birmingham disrupted.
Passengers have are facing major delays across various services after two people were struck by trains on Thursday afternoon.
Euston was the first to see major disruption after the first incident, in Bushey, with major routes including ones toward Manchester, and Birmingham suspended.
Photos showed huge crowds as boards revealed services were heavily delayed or cancelled. Lines from Euston reopened at around 4pm but National Rail warns the disruption is likely to continue for the rest of the day.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 12.30pm today (26 September) near Bushey Railway Station.
"Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Another person was hit by a train between Tottenham Hale and Broxbourne this afternoon, delaying all routes from Liverpool Street to Cambridge, Stansted Airport and Hertford East.
Services from Euston and Liverpool Street have since reopened but further severe disruption is expected.

People urged to check before travelling
National Rail is advising people to check before they travel and allow more time for journeys due to the wet weather.
Speed restrictions may be in place which can cause delays and cancellations, according to National Rail.
The Met Office has issued yellow and amber weather warnings for heavy rain in parts of England and Wales today and on Friday.
Current disruptions due to the poor weather according to National Rail are:
Major disruption between Carlisle and Glasgow Central/Edinburgh
Disruption between Wokingham and Staines
Disruption between Shrewsbury and Craven Arms/Wolverhampton
Disruption in the Birmingham Snow Hill area
Rail replacement on London Northwestern Railway
For London Northwestern Railway rail replacement transport is operating between Milton Keynes Central and Harrow & Wealdstone in both directions.
You can use your ticket on the following services at no extra cost:
CrossCountry via any reasonable route
East Midlands Railway via any reasonable route
London Overground between London Euston and Watford Junction (please note these service may be affected by this disruption)
London Underground via any reasonable route

Ticket restrictions lifted for Avanti West Coast trains, National Rail says
All ticket restrictions have been lifted for Avanti West Coast services.
Tickets for travel today (September 26) can be used tomorrow, according to National Rail.
You can use your ticket on the following services at no extra cost:
CrossCountry on any reasonable route
East Midlands Railway between London St Pancras International and Leicester
Great Western Railway on any reasonable route
LNER between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh
Transport for Wales between Crewe and Holyhead
West Midlands Railway via any reasonable route
Lines from Liverpool street reopened
Lines have reopened from Liverpool Street station though major delays expected for several hours.
National Rail said: "Lines have reopened between London Liverpool Street and Cheshunt via both Tottenham Hale and Seven Sisters following the earlier incident where a person was hit by a train.
"Services running between these stations may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 80 minutes or revised whilst in recovery," the firm said, adding: "Major disruption is expected until 21:00."

Footage from outside Euston Station posted at 5.53pm showed heaving crowds as delays continued after a passenger was struck by a train.

First passenger struck by train has died, police say
Earlier, police revealed that the first person reported to have been struck by a train today had died.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 12.30pm today (26 September) near Bushey Railway Station.
"Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead.
"The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Major disruption between Liverpool Street and Cheshunt after 'second person hit by train'
National Rail has reported major disruption between London Liverpool Street and Cheshunt after a second person was struck by a train this afternoon.
Greater Anglia, London Overground and Stansted Express services are all impacted, with various lines closed.
National Rail has said: "A person has been hit by a train and, whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines are closed.
"Trains between London Liverpool Street and Cheshunt via both Tottenham Hale and Seven Sisters may be cancelled, delayed by up to 80 minutes or revised.
"Major disruption is expected until 19:00.
"If you've been affected by what happened on the network today, there is always someone to talk to. You can contact the Samaritans on 116 123 from any phone for a confidential chat."

More disruption after 'another person hit by train at Tottenham Hale'
There are further delays after another person was hit by a train between Tottenham Hale and Broxbourne, Greater Anglia has confirmed.
Emergency services are at the scene.
In a post on X, the train operating firm said services running through these stations "may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until further notice".
All lines from Liverpool Street to Cambridge, Stansted Airport and Hertford East are blocked at present, MyLondon reports.

In National Rail's latest update, a spokesperson said: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident between London Euston / Shepherds Bush and Watford Junction.
“To allow them to safely carry out their work, some lines are currently closed.
“Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 90 minutes or revised.
“Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.”
Delays caused by passenger being 'hit by train', Southern Rail says
A spokesperson for Southern Rail said: “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Shepherd's Bush and Watford Junction.
“All lines are currently blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident,” they added.
Disruption expected until 6pm, National Rail
Passengers have been warned by National Rail to expect disruption until at least 6pm.
Travellers had been told this afternoon that normal services woul dbe resumed by 3.30pm, according to reports.

The London Overground between London Euston and Watford Junction is also affected, as is the Southern service between East Croydon and Watford Junction, as per MyLondon.

Disruption comes day after Euston targeted in 'Islamophobic cyber attack'
The severe disruption at Euston on Thursday comes the day after the station was among over a dozen stations that had Wi-Fi networks hacked by a cyber-attack which displayed Islamophobic messages, according to police.
British Transport Police said in a statement: “We received reports at around 5.03pm yesterday (25 September) of a cyber-attack displaying Islamophobic messaging on some Network Rail Wi-Fi services.
"We are working alongside Network Rail to investigate the incident at pace,” the force added.
The stations targeted in the hack included Euston, Victoria, King’s Cross, London Bridge, Cannon Street, Charing Cross, Liverpool Street, Paddington, Clapham Junction and Waterloo.
Stations outside of London were also targeted, including Manchester Piccadilly, Birmingham New Street, Glasgow Central, Leeds City, Liverpool Lime Street, Bristol Temple Meads, Edinburgh Waverley, Reading, and Guildford.
Furious passengers 'abandon journeys' as Euston delays continue
Travellers were left waiting on the platform after a delays hit Euston station.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Sky News presenter Jonathan Samuels shared a picture of the crowds and branded Euston "Europe's worst station".
The journalist said he was abandoning his journey rather than "waste all day".
