A driver was left outraged after their vehicle was damaged in a crash, and a strange item was left on their windscreen.

Posting to Reddit, user DanskaAmbassaden revealed their car had been hit and a note was left behind. But what the note was written on has since gone viral and caused confusion among forum users.

Taking to the forum, the outraged user wrote: "The person that hit my car used a sandwich as a note." Attached was an image of a slice of bread which had been defaced with a marker pen.

Few words could be made out on the slice of bread but the word "sorry" can be vaguely seen in the top left of the white bread.

Forum users have found the incident hilarious, if a bit confusing

One wrote: "I'm sorry for the car but that's funny af." Another replied: "REAL LMAO If this was me I would be conflicted if I'll be filled with rage or just be utterly shocked by the single piece of bread."

A third chimed: "we will forever Wonder why he used bread… atleast 'SORRY' is readable."

Other users were stumped by the use of the slice of bread and wondered where the rest of the sandwich was. One person asked: "Did they use a sandwich, or did they use a piece of bread?" While someone else said: "I'm sure they used a sandwich, but only left the bread. I mean, where else would they get the bread, unless they just happen to have a load in their car?"

Others have seen the lighter side of the bread note, with one person writing: "I would call them an idiot sandwich but that's pretty damn hilarious. Either they had a loaf of bread next to them or they sacrificed their sandwich to write you a note."

Another added: "Cmon you can't make this up. But I can definitely imagine someone panicking to find something to write on before settling for white bread."

Another user even claimed to have translated the note, joking the driver had pretended to leave their information. They wrote: "It says 'Sorry I hit your car, I don’t have insurance but people are looking so I’m writing this note on a slice of bread so they think I’m leaving my info'."
