Boy, 5, and sister, 9, hit by a bus - girl fighting for life in hospital

A Met Police spokesman said: "The male driver of the bus was arrested. He has been taken into police custody where he remains."

A nine-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a bus ploughed into her and her younger brother in a horror crash today.

The siblings were struck by the bus in Bexleyheath, southeast London, as they walked along with a family member. 

The driver of the bus has since been arrested and remains in police custody.

The young girl was rushed to hospital and her injuries are being treated as life-threatening.

Her younger brother, aged five, was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "The children are siblings who were with a family member at the time of the collision.

"Officers are providing support to their family.

"The male driver of the bus was arrested. He has been taken into police custody where he remains.

"Any witnesses to the collision who are yet to speak with police are asked to call 101 quoting reference 2309/03Aug."
