The public have been urged not to approach a "large" mental health patient who is at large after slipping free from medics while on an escorted walk.

Abderrahmane Ariba, 30, was the fourth mental health patient from the London area to abscond at the weekend.

This time the patient escaped from an unnamed facility in Beckenham.

Three other men, who broke out of a medium secure ward at Springfield Hospital in Tooting, south London, on Friday evening were caught by police by Sunday and an investigation is now underway.

Ariba, 30, was last seen at about 9.30am on Sunday, 21 July, while on an escorted walk with staff from the mental health facility in Beckenham.

He is described as 5ft 5ins tall and of large build. When last seen, he was wearing a blue polka dot T-shirt, black tracksuit trousers and black trainers.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for help to find a man who has absconded from a mental health facility in Beckenham.

He was caught and returned to prison on Saturday.
