Four men die in Cheltenham car crash

Four men died after a car crashed into a tree in Ullenwood, near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Police found the black Renault Clio on the A436 while on patrol shortly before 2am on Sunday. The vehicle had left the road and collided with a tree.

Gloucestershire police said urgent work was being carried out to identify those involved, who were all aged 18 plus.

The road between the A417 Air Balloon roundabout and Severn Springs was closed while investigators and the emergency services carried out their work.

Anyone with information about the collision or with dashcam footage is asked to contact the police.

Paul Hodgkinson, the Gloucestershire County councillor for the area, said there have been accidents and fatalities on the road before.

He said: "It's terrible. I was just horrified that four people have lost their lives and my heart goes out to their families, it really does."

Mr Hodgkinson added: "Certainly accidents have been a regular occurrence, with the road being exceptionally busy. One thing that I would say is that residents and I have called for ages for improvements to the road because we feel it is unsafe."

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire County Council said it would be wrong to jump to any conclusions, a review would be carried out and action taken.

Man dies in crash on Merseyside slip road

A man died in a motorbike crash on a slip road for Jaguar Land Rover's site in Speke, Merseyside on Friday.

Merseyside Police were called at about 7.15pm to South Road where they found the 20-year-old with serious, life-threatening injuries, according to the Liverpool Echo.

He was rushed to hospital by ambluance where he died that same night. His family has been informed and were being supported by specialist officers, Merseyside Police has said.

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, lead investigating officer from Merseyside Police, said: "Our thoughts are with the man’s family and they are being supported. It is now a priority for us to get answers for them about what happened and my team are working to establish key facts.

"Early enquiries show a number of vehicles in the area at that time and I believe it will have been witnessed by members of the public or have been captured on dash cameras. I would appeal directly to anyone who saw anything and who has yet to speak with my team to please get in touch."

Mr Timpson urged anyone with dashcam who was in the area at the time to urgently review it, adding the Susuki SV650 motorbike involved was a distinctive yellow colour so would have stood out.
