Britain is full of gorgeous open spaces that are perfect for walking - but this route boasts four beautiful waterfalls. Taking my journey through the Four Waterfalls Walk, I was blown away by its captivating scenery.

The trail sits in the Brecon Beacons half an hour away from the Welsh capital Cardiff. It was voted one of the UK’s best walks and being an absolute gem it is easy to see why.

Cutting through the ancient woodland of the Brecon Beacons the six mile trail stops by four spectacular waterfalls including the magnificent Sgwd yr Eira, a waterfall which you can stand directly behind.

It is every bit as beautiful as it sounds and is the trail’s largest waterfall. As I stood behind the curtain of water I was stunned by the breathtaking natural beauty that surrounded me.

Be warned you cannot stand behind this waterfall without getting wet but as there was plenty of room the spray was minimal when I visited. Near this waterfall sits lots of picnic benches proving the perfect place for a pit stop and to rest those legs.

Tucked away in a charming forest sits Sgwd Clun-Gwyn waterfall, it is the easiest waterfall to access as it is the closest to the main trail.

Oozing character and charm Sgwd Isaf Clun-Gwyn is the smallest waterfall overall and is secluded among ancient woodland. The route to this waterfall is particularly slippery, be prepared to go down some muddy stairs.

I then followed a muddy trail over the river from Sgwd Isaf Clun-Gwyn to the highest waterfall Sgwd y Pannwr. I could hear the sounds of the rushing water before the stunning waterfall was even visible.

I was in awe of its natural beauty and there was even a little rainbow with many people taking a dip in its waterfall plunge pools.

The route has paved paths to easily walk long, however, walking boots are a must as some areas can be extremely slippy. Do not worry if you are not the most experienced or physically fit walker as the trail is perfect for all types of walkers.

Four Waterfalls Walk is dog friendly, along the trail I saw many excited dogs enjoying the wonderfull walk.

I parked in Gwaun Hepste car park which is £4 for the full day and is payment via card only. From here set off past the tourist information board and begin exploring the beautiful trail. When I visited the carpark had a cabin serving light refreshments. You can also park in Gwaun Hepste car park whhch is again £4 for the full day.

As someone who loves going on new walks and exploring different places this has to be my most favourite route and cannot wait to visit the beautiful waterfalls soon.
