Facebook is evil, says ‘super headmaster’
ONE of Britain’s leading “super” headteachers yesterday described Facebook as “evil” and the “scourge of every school”.
Tarun Kapur, who was awarded a CBE by the Queen in 2009 for his services to education, blamed the social networking site for increasing bullying among pupils.
Mr Kapur, 51, who is executive head of three schools in Greater Manchester, warned parents that teachers across the country face a difficult challenge to deal with its “dangerous” influence.
Although use of Facebook is barred in his schools, he says children use the site at home to post bullying messages about other pupils, then the teachers have to “pick up the pieces.”
Last night a spokeswoman for Facebook said a new campaign aimed to get safety messages to young people through the website, and included working with some of the leading child protection and anti-bullying organisations.
