Ray’s darling buds of May: Plant blooms after 24 years
GARDENER Ray Brown can at last see the fruits of his labours – for the first time in 24 years.
This 10ft rhododendron macabeanum has finally bloomed in all its glory after failing to flower since he planted it back in 1986.
Ray, right at his Plant World garden centre in Newton Abbot, Devon, said: “I thought about chopping it down but I’m glad I didn’t. After the worst winter in memory, to see all the enormous buds swelling is fantastic.”
