Rare slipper orchid given a police guard
POLICE are guarding one of Britain’s rarest flowers to protect it from plant hunters.
The lady’s slipper orchid was declared extinct in 1917. But one was found on a golf course at Silverdale, Lancs. PC Duncan Thomas said: “We have been monitoring this amazing plant for a number of years.
