Northern trains cancelled after unexploded bomb found - lines blocked
AN 'UNEXPLODED' bomb has been found near a railway line in West Yorkshire.

Trains between Leeds and Bradford have been cancelled following the discovery of the unexploded World War 2 bomb between Guiseley and Ilkley in West Yorkshire. Buses are being put on instead of trains.
National Rail confirmed the bomb had been found and issued a statement which read: "Network Rail staff have found what is believed to be an unexploded bomb near the railway.
"For safety, both lines are closed between Guiseley and Ilkley.
"Trains to and from these stations will be cancelled.
"Disruption is expected until 1pm."

They added: "Network Rail staff have found what is believed to be an unexploded bomb near the railway.
"For safety and until the item can be properly assessed all lines are closed between Guiseley and Ilkley.
"Military bomb disposal teams have been called to the unexploded bomb.
"They are expected to be at the location at approximately 11:30."

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Ilkley at 9.56am this morning following reports of a mortar shell having been discovered.
"A cordon is currently in place while specialist officers attend."
Northern Assist tweeted: "Due to a wartime bomb near the railway between Guiseley and Ilkley all lines are blocked.
"Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled.

Rail replacement transport will run between Guiseley and Shipley in both directions every half hour.
Traffic and travel app Inrix added: "Buses run instead of trains on Northern between Guiseley and Ilkley due to emergency services dealing with an incident.
"A wartime bomb has been discovered near the railway line."

According to National Rail, the "unexploded" bomb was found between Menston and Burley-in-Wharfedale.
Leeds City Station tweeted: "We're sorry there is disruption to services this morning between Guiseley and Ilkley.
"A suspected wartime bomb has been found near the railway in #Ilkley"
A spokesperson for Northern Rail added: "The line is closed between Guiseley and Ilkley due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway.
"Until further notice, rail replacement transport will run between Guiseley and Shipley in both directions every half hour.
"Journey times will be extended by up to 20 minutes.
"Customers at Leeds are advised to travel on alternative services to Shipley and change there for rail connections to Guiseley.
"For customers on station platforms, please listen for announcements or consult Customer Information Screens for up to date train running information."
