GB NEWS, which is set to rival the BBC, will start broadcasting "within weeks", and commentators have been quick to react to the prospect of the Beeb having another competitor.

According to The Telegraph, the 24-hour news network will launch on May 31. Showreels of its presenters will begin from May 27, with live programming set to start four days later, they claim.
GB News will air on Freeview channel 236 as well as on Sky, Virgin Media, YouView and Freesat.
Spearheaded by former BBC veteran, Andrew Neil, the timing of the launch has yet to be decided.
A GB News spokesperson said: "The only confirmed dates are related to technical launches.
"No date has been decided for the launch of live programming.
"That decision will not be made for some time, possibly weeks."
Now, with GB News soon to be on Britons' screens, commentators have celebrated.
Alan Sked, emeritus professor of international history at LSE, tweeted: "GB News will launch from around the end of this month on Freeview 236, Sky and other platforms.
"It will be a 24-hour news channel. Bye-bye BBC News programmes!

"Goodbye Maitlis, Bradby and other woke wonders."
Someone else tweeted: "Shame we still have to pay the BBC for the privilege of watching someone else's channel. #DefundTheBBC".
While another Twitter user added: "I'm really excited about this...especially with 24hr broadcasting.
"Definitely bye-bye to @BBCNews and @SkyNews and their biased anti-British news reporting waving hands, grinning faces with smiling eyes."

Another person said it was "much-welcomed news".
While others welcomed the rival to the BBC, some said Sky News will "really suffer" as a result of the new station.
They said: "It's been assigned a station.
"Look forward to this new addition.
"Sky will really suffer."
Another added: "I can't wait.
"The woke s***e being broadcast from the BBC is driving people to despair.
"Munchetty sniggering at the Union Jack was the last straw for me."
Someone else said: "Brilliant news. Bring it on.
"More impartial news will benefit this country enormously and probably bring @BBCNews to their senses if they wish to hold onto viewers."
The broadcaster has secured investment to hire up to 120 journalists in its attempt to change the media landscape.
Colin Brazier, the former Sky News presenter, said he joined GB News because "the mainstream broadcasters were getting out of touch with a large portion of the viewership".
