Stark pictures show damage done to NHS workers' faces after wearing PPE for hours
THESE powerful pictures show the damage done to the faces and skin of hospital staff caused by wearing PPE for hours.
More than 150 NHS workers at Barts Health Trust in east London attended a clinic after suffering skin aliments caused by PPE, MyLondon reports. Around one third of those nurses and care staff needed a prescription.
Barts Health Trust, the largest NHS trust in the capital, ran 36 clinics recently for its employees, many of whom complained of acne and hand eczema.
The scheme, which was organised by the dermatology teams at the Royal London Hospital and Whipps Cross, provided pharmaceuticals, dermatology referrals and free skincare samples.
Officials said 55 prescriptions were issued.
A spokesman for the trust said: “Pop-up skin clinics have been a huge success at Barts Health.
"We are immensely grateful to Ionela Tirsar, dermatology nurse, whose enormous efforts enabled the daily organisation and smooth running of the clinics [and] the dermatology team.”
PPE continues to be worn to help reduce the spread of coronavirus.
