COVID-19 patient describes in chilling detail 'intense' experience of being on ventilator
LISTEN to the chilling account of a coronavirus patient who was moved to an intensive care unit.

Patient Faiz Ilyas told the BBC's World at One programme that he hallucinated during his time in intensive care. Mr Ilyas also praised the NHS nurses that looked after him during his time in hospital.

Faiz Ilyas said: "At first, I was taken into hospital and I went into A&E while they were testing me and measuring my symptoms.
"Then I was put on a ward before some doctors came decided to take me into intensive care.
"I was put on loads of different machines, the most intense machine went over my face and would push oxygen down into my throat and into my chest.
"I was on that for 12 to 18 hours, that was scary.

"I was completely alone while I was in intensive care.
"I was having a lot of hallucinations
"One of the things I do remember was how fantastic each of the nurses was.
"It was so nice to have these fantastic NHS nurses around me and supporting me the whole time."
