Andrew pulls out of visits in virus panic
PRINCE Andrew pulled out of an official visit to a factory yesterday after staff there went down with suspected swine flu.
The prince was due to open a new £40million JCB Heavy Products factory in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, and meet shopfloor and office staff before presenting the firm with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
But Buckingham Palace officials decided to postpone the trip because of the risk of exposing him to the H1N1 virus.
Earlier business leaders in Manchester had called off two meetings with Andrew, 49, because several of them had become ill swine flu.
Palace officials say they have not so far had a single case of swine flu among the Royal Family.
Neither have there been any cases yet among the 420 palace staff, even though the virus is now widespread across Britain and thousands of visitors have been to garden parties at the Palace.
