Bromley fire: The Glades shopping centre EVACUATED due to blaze
A LONDON shopping centre was evacuated this evening after fire broke out in its car park.
Emergency services raced to The Glades Shopping Centre in Bromley, south east London, after being called at 5.39pm. The centre was evacuated after fire broke out in a car. The Glades Shopping Centre said: "We can confirm that due to a fire in our carpark the centre has been evacuated as a precaution. The fire brigade are in attendance."
The fire is thought to have broken out on the second floor of the mutli-storey car park next to the Civic Centre, which holds 1,500 vehicles.
One car is believed to have been completely destroyed and three others damaged, according to Newshopper.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: "A team was called to The Glades Shopping Centre in Bromley at 5.39pm.
"There is an ongoing incident and a fire crew is still in attendance."
They later confirmed the situation was under control and the shopping centre had been re-opened.
Eyewitnesses reported three fire engines were at the scene of the blaze.
Firefighters were still battling the fire at 6.40pm
