London Bloodbath - Women attacked with machete in Charlton HORROR attack
A WOMAN in Charlton has been taken to hospital with head injuries after being attacked from behind by a man armed with a machete, the Met Police have confirmed.
Police were called to the attack, which took place on Rathmore Road, shortly after 7pm last night. Officers attended along with London Ambulance personal. The victim, aged in her 50s, is not reported to be in a life-threatening condition.
She is being treated at a south London hospital for cuts to the head.
The suspect approached the victim from behind before carrying out the attack, then headed towards Woolwich Road.
He was not known to his victim.
According to a police statement he has been described as: “An Asian man, aged in his 30s, of heavy build.”
The police added that he may be wearing a tanned jacket.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the attack or believes they know the suspect to get in touch immediately.
According to the Office for National Statistics there were 39,332 knife offences in the year to June 2018, the highest number on record.
This is a 12 percent increase on last years figure.
Almost 15,000 of these knife related offences took place in the capital.
Earlier this month London Mayor Sadiq Khan warned it could take a decade to bring knife crime under control in the city.
He said: “To really make significant progress can take up to 10 years, a generation.”
