'Brexiteers are TRUE democrats' Author reveals why she voted Brexit with BRILLIANT point
BREXITEER Julie Burchill revealed she voted for the UK to leave the European Union in protest against "entitled Remainers" in the south of England, arguing Brexiteers are the only "true democrats" in the country.
Brexiteers are 'the true democrats' says author Julie Burchill
Speaking to BBC Newsnight, the British author claimed Britons in the south of England who have voted for the UK to remain shackled to the EU have made a purely selfish choice.
Ms Burchill argued those who are financially better-off than working class Brexiteers in the West Country claim to be advancing "internationalism" but are really only interested in their own lives.
The eurosceptic author and journalist claimed to have voted for Brexit to give voice to the "true democrats" of her country.
She said: “It’s very easy for people in the affluent south to be Remainers.
“It’s a purely selfish vote no matter how much they talk about the brotherhood of man, internationalism.
“It’s purely because their lives are going just fine for them.
“I reverted to my old self who was a very poor working-class girl from the West Country where my people have been treated like dumb pawns in the European game for many decades.
“And I reverted to my class type and I voted for Brexit as a protest, because their vote is all they have and Brexiteers are the true democrats
“Their vote is all they have and they’ve used it.”

Remainers MPs and anti-Brexit campaigners are calling for a People's Vote on the final deal at the end of the negotiations.
Prime Minister Theresa May and Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn both ruled out the prospect of a second Brexit referendum.
But both Labour’s shadow chancellor John McDonnell and Labour’s shadow Brexit secretary have claimed another referendum is “on the table” should the Government’s negotiated deal get voted down when it returns to Parliament.
This week former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair claimed a second Brexit vote was the “obvious” thing to do.
Peter Bone: Let's chuck Chequers and deliver promised Brexit
But in Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday Mrs May reiterated there would be no second Brexit vote.
She said: "This Parliament overwhelmingly gave the decision to the British people on whether to remain or leave the EU. The British people voted.
“It’s now up to this Government to show our faith in the British people and deliver on this vote."
Mrs May also directly challenged Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to rule out a rerun of the vote to withdraw from the EU.
