Dave Lee Travis sentence under review
DAVE LEE TRAVIS' sexual assault sentence is under review after officials were bombarded with complaints suggesting the shamed DJ's punishment is too lenient.
On Friday (26Sep14), the former Radio 1 DJ avoided a possible jail term when he was handed a three-month suspended sentence for groping a woman backstage at a TV show.
The case was referred to the Attorney General's Office on Monday (30Sep14) following a slew of complaints.
A spokesperson for the office tells newspaper The Sun, "The case has been referred to us under the unduly lenient sentence scheme."
Experts will decide whether to refer the case to the Court of Appeal on 24 October (14).
Travis, 69, had been cleared of 13 other charges related to sex attack allegations.
