ITV Strictly’s Shayne Ward postpones wedding to famous partner as BBC show takes toll
Shayne Ward has been forced to postpone his wedding to Hollyoaks star Sophie Austin due to his commitment to BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
Shayne Ward has put wedding bells on hold for the twinkling toes of Strictly Come Dancing fame. The artist, known for his stint on Coronation Street and as an X Factor victor, decided to delay the much-anticipated nuptials with his beloved Sophie Austin, with whom he shares two children, Willow, aged eight, and two year old Reign.
The pair had visions of a late-year ceremony, but Shayne's invitation to join the "incredible" BBC ballroom contest shifted their plans.
Opening up to the Sunday Mirror, the 39 year old entertainer revealed: "It'll be happening. Sophie and I were actually looking at the end of this year, but we couldn't because this incredible show happened."
Sophie, a former Hollyoaks star, is entirely in his corner, having been the one to spur him towards the dance floor stardom.
Ward reminisced about Sophie's encouragement, saying: "It was actually Sophie who put me forward for the show. For many years she's talked about Strictly, she loves, loves the show, so every year the music would come on and she'd whisper: 'You'd be good at this'", reports OK!.
His fiancees unwavering support didnt stop there; she was adamant about showcasing his talents to the world. He added: "She always had that belief in me, she'd say: 'I just think you'd really enjoy it, and I want people to see you'.
This year she said to me: 'Can I please put your name forward? ' and I said: 'Yeah' because it felt like the right time."
Shayne excitedly embraced the challenge, declaring: "So she did, and now I'm so happy I said yes because it's one of the best things I've ever done."

The singer and actor encountered a wave of criticism after his first appearance on the show, confessing he took a hit from online detractors who labelled him "over confident", while he actually felt "terrified" prior to his performance.
On Saturday evening, he made a comeback with an impressive tango alongside Nancy Xu to Teddy Swims' 'The Door', securing a score of 31 and boosting his cumulative total to 52.
Shirley Ballas, one of the judges, commended the performance and encouraged him to maintain his confidence and to keep his "head high".
