I Cloo! Hollywood star George Clooney weds Amal Alamuddin in Venice
GEORGE CLOONEY has tied the knot after marrying human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in Venice.
The eyes of the world have been on the Italian city as an army of stars and paparazzi descended on Venice in anticipation of the couple's big day.
The glamorous couple had been tipped to wed on Monday but a representative for the Hollywood star made the announcement on Saturday evening.
"George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were married today in a private ceremony in Venice," a short statement read.
Earlier in the day boats with fresh flowers were seen arriving at the actor's hotel to pick up guests travelling to the nuptials.
The gondoliers were dressed in smart white shirts with black waistcoats, with bouquets of pink and peach roses laid at the bow.
U2 musician Bono and his wife Alison Hewson were pictured arriving at the wedding venue before other guests.

The world-famous star threw a peace sign in the air before jumping out of the boat - both were wearing black with black sunglasses.
Editor of Vogue USA Anna Wintour arrived at the do with her trademark sleek bob in place and dark sunglasses.
A green and navy striped dress was the order of the day for the Editor, who was pictured at the couple's rehearsal dinner last night.
Matt Damon, who starred alongside Clooney in Ocean's Eleven, was also spotted on the Venice water.

Curtains were installed at the Hotel Aman Canal Grande Venice to try and stop photographers getting an intimate view of proceedings.
The star was pictured out on Friday night with a host of other A-list stars, enjoying a rehearsal dinner with his beautiful bride-to-be Alamuddin.
But at times the Hollywood hunk looked a little worse for wear, spilling his friend's drink as they arrived at the restaurant and reportedly drinking tequila.
George didn't show any signs of having a hangover this morning, however, as he smiled and waved to fans who spotted him out.
He enjoyed breakfast with Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande, soaking up the sun and smiling to himself.
It was the night before their big day - which is reported to be today - but Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney showed no sign of nerves at their rehearsal dinner.
The pair headed out to a small restaurant on the Grand Canal in Venice, with a select few friends and family.
Amal looked incredible, turing heads as she jumped in a river taxi wearing a red silk dress and a smile plastered across her face.
Posing with her family, the human rights lawyer looked smart and confident stood next to her mother and sisters.
The small taxi looked filled to the brim with friends, as the soon-to-be bride made her way to the rehearsal dinner.
While Amal arrived with a bevy of her female friends and family, George descended upon the restaurant with a group of his male friends.
