Sharon Osbourne attacks 'disposable' U2
SHE has never kept her opinions to herself and now Sharon Osbourne has fired a shot at Irish band U2.
The veteran With Or Without You rockers signed a £62million deal with Apple to have their new album Songs Of Innocence made available to all iTunes customers for free as well as being added to all new iPhone 6 mobiles.
They set a precedent that music is disposable, it’s just another piece of software and it’s nothing
Taking to Twitter, former X Factor judge and soon to be Loose Women panellist Sharon, 61, wrote: “U2, you are business moguls not musicians any more. No wonder you have to give your mediocre music away for free ’cause no one wants to buy it. You are just a bunch of middle-aged political groupies.”
Sharon elaborated on her comments during an appearance on US chat show The Talk accusing the band of cheapening music. She added: “They set a precedent that music is disposable, it’s just another piece of software and it’s nothing. You should give it away for free.
“There’s a new breed of artist coming up that needs that money to survive and create. We’re not all billionaires. We’re not all in your world. So stop with your ‘doing us a favour by giving it all away for free’. Keep it to yourselves!”
