George Clooney's fiancé Amal Alamuddin visits Kate Middleton's wedding dress designer
SHE'S managed to tie down one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, and it seems as though Amal Alamuddin is pulling out all the stops for her upcoming nuptials to George Clooney.
The lawyer, who is expected to marry the 53-year-old actor later this month, was said to be spotted at the headquarters of Alexander McQueen, the fashion label that designed Kate Middleton's wedding dress.
It was reported that the 36-year-old spent an hour and a half at the firm's offices in Clerkenwell, East London, with her mother, journalist Baria Alamuddin.
The pretty brunette, who confirmed her engagement to the Ocean's Eleven star earlier this year, couldn't wipe the smile off her face as she left the design house, happily kissing a seamstress on the cheek as she left.
Hinting that she could well be fitting for her dream wedding reds, the seamstress wore a pin fusion on her arm.
Kate's ivory satin and lace dress was designed by McQueen's creative director Sarah Burton and received worldwide admiration, so it certainly seems as though Amal is determined to make a statement.
Last month, Amal is said to have made a discreet solo trip to the civic office in Chelsea to post the marriage notice, which has been on display along with dozens for other couples.
It says that the duple will get married in Italy, where Clooney has a home on Lake Como.
Dean Geoghegan, the register office superintendent, said: “I think the girls in the office were disappointed George Clooney himself didn’t come in [to sign the banns].
“We do sometimes have celebrities turning up in the background. You’ll be doing a wedding for a young graphic designer and suddenly a Hollywood A-lister or someone like David Bowie will turn up.
“Or you see the paperwork and go, ‘Oh blimey, that’s George Clooney’.”
Rumours have surfaced that the pair's wedding is to be featured in Vogue.
Page Six, of the New York Post, have reported the couple's special day is to be covered in the pages of glossy magazine Vogue.
With Anna Wintour thought to be on the guest list for the Italian leg of the nuptials, sources have reported the Editor of American Vogue wouldn't attend without writing about the special day.
“She wouldn’t go there and not cover it,” a source said.
