Ridley Scott's The Vatican shelved by TV bosses
RIDLEY SCOTT's Catholic Church drama THE VATICAN has been shelved following the departure of a key behind-the-scenes man.
The pilot marked the Alien filmmaker's TV directorial debut, but the TV movie reportedly fell apart after the crew was unable to meet deadlines and stay on budget after showrunner Paul Attanasio quit, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Vatican, which starred Kyle Chandler as Cardinal Thomas Duffy, centred on the the inner politics of the modern-day Catholic Church.
Bruno Ganz, Anna Friel, Sebastian Koch, Matthew Goode and Ewen Bremner were also attached to the film.
