Prince Harry joins wounded heroes on trek to South Pole
PRINCE Harry will join three teams of wounded servicemen and women from Britain, the US and the Commonwealth on a gruelling 210-mile race to the South Pole.
The third-in-line to the throne revealed his plans, at a launch in London yesterday, to take part in the month-long Walking With The Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge starting in November.
And he joked: “As a member of the British team, I will have a brew on ready for you when you join us at the Pole.”
Harry, 28, a captain and Apache helicopter pilot in the Army Air Corps, paid tribute to the courage and determination of the 12 competitors, including three women, who have all suffered amputations or other serious injuries in the line of duty.
He said: “These men and women have given their all in the cause of freedom, in our cause.
“That they should once again step into the breach underlines their remarkable qualities.”
