Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a special appearance at Oprah Winfrey’s event to mark the launch of a new book aimed at helping young people live a life offline. The launch event was held by Oprah Daily - formerly known as O, the Oprah Magazine -  for Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price’s new book 'An Amazing Generation', which offers teenagers ideas for how to make life away from screens fun, and how to build healthy screen habits.

As part of the event, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared in a video to discuss the importance of such a book with the authors. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are strong advocates for children spending more time away from smartphones as a result of the dangers it can have on young people’s mental health.

Appearing via video, Harry and Meghan were all smiles as they sat down for the chat, with Harry sporting a quarter-zip fleece while Meghan was wearing pink.

Harry could be heard saying: “Over the years we’ve worked with you on how the digital spaces are deeply affecting our collective mental, emotional and physical health. And obviously a huge congratulations to you and the outcome of your research which has created a parent-led movement which is astonishing and much-needed.”

Meghan then added: “And that we’re proud to be a part of.”

Harry then said the insights of the authors have helped Harry and Meghan’s work with parents who have lost their children as a result of the dangers of phones and being online.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex feel passionately about this subject and set up The Parents' Network through their charitable Archewell Foundation - which has been renamed Archewell Philanthropies - in 2024.

The network aims to help parents whose children have been harmed or who have lost their lives as a result of the negative impacts of social media and the online world.

Harry and Meghan have spoken about the subject many times, with fans online quick to praise the couple for the work they do in this area.

Speaking about Harry and Meghan’s video conversation on Oprah Daily this week, one fan commented online: “Really important conversation to have!”

Another said: “Love to see Prince Harry and Meghan build on and highlight the learnings from the critical work their foundation has been doing with families on online harms.”
