Lady Louise Windsor made a rare appearance today at Trooping the Colour but royal fans were not impressed after she had to ride in an open carriage during the downpour in London.

The daughter of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie arrived at Buckingham Palace in a car alongside her parents but was later pictured in a carriage with a hood only on one side, where Duchess Sophie and the Duke of Kent were sitting.

They followed by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence who travelled together in a separate carriage.

Louise looked beautiful in the same dress she wore to the Coronation in May 2023, the lilac Kumiko Iris Silk Dress by Suzannah x Rachel Levy (£1,290) and a colour matching hat by Jane Taylor.

But royal fans did notice Louise's positioning and took to social media to express their views.

One user wrote on X: "Oh no!! Put the hoods down!! Lady Louise and Timothy Laurence got the short straw!!"

Another one said: "She isn’t put out by a little rain."

A third fan said: "The tops are up on the carriages and landaus-- but Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor is exposed to the elements."

While a forth person commented: "Lady Louise is a horsewoman - she won’t be bothered by a bit of drizzle and seems like a nice girl who wouldn’t expose her venerable cousin to the elements!"

Lastly, a fourth one opined: "Duke of Kent is 88 years old. Possible that Lady Louise chose to sit in the rain rather than him. Respect your elders and all that."

Duchess Sophie's daughter was later pictured sitting next to her mother when the rain got heavier.

The 20-year-old university student did not attend last year's celebrations due to her exams.
