Princess Anne's cutting remark when she found out Prince William had been born
Prince William was born in June 1982 - but his aunt had one cold comment on the happy day.
William, Prince of Wales, was born to King Charles III and the late Princess Diana in June 1982. As the first child of the heir at the time, his birth was a celebrated occasion - however not everybody seemed to take the news well.
Princess Anne, the second child and only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth and the late Prince Philip seemed to exhibit something of a sibling rivalry when she was informed of the Prince’s birth.
Anne was questioned by reporters, who asked her for a reaction to the new prince’s birth. Having just come back from touring Indian reservations in New Mexico with the charity Save the Children, it is understandable that she may have been somewhat tired.

“I didn’t know she had one,” the princess responded after being told the late Princess Diana had borne a child.
“Do you think everyone is making too much of a fuss of the baby?” a reporter questioned the King's sister.
“Yes”, was her only response, refusing to comment on her new nephew further. It was explained by a Palace insider that Princess Anne was feeling the pressures of her engagements at the time, which were quadruple that of her sister-in-law, and double that of her brother.

“Anne works very hard and sees her sister-in-law picking up the glory. She’s sick to her back teeth with it all”, the insider shared.
At only two years apart in age, Anne and Charles have always had a special bond, representing the Queen as they went on foreign tours together in their youth. Nowadays, Princess Anne is highly regarded as Charles’s right hand woman, and trusted confidant.
Although this relationship was somewhat weakened while he was married to Diana, the pair have since reconciled.
