PRINCE CHARLES has issued a stark warning to all members of the Royal Family with the terms of the so-called Megxit deal, one royal expert said.
Prince Charles: Documentary takes 'critical' look at Royal
Prince Charles has signalled he is ready to take away the HRH style from any member of the Royal Family after negotiations with the Queen and the Sussexes, royal author Nigel Cawthorne said. The Prince of Wales has been hinting for years at his desire to slim down the monarchy and drastically reduce the working members of the Royal Family to cut costs and make the institution more modern.
And the exit terms agreed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should be seen as a warning to all the royals still using the HRH style without carrying out royal duties, Mr Cawthorne, author of Call Me Diana, said.
He told Express.co.uk: “It is an undoubtedly a shot across the bow by Prince Charles what will happen once he is King.
“He is saying to all the current HRHs ‘I am prepared to take the style away from my own son, so don’t count on keeping it forever’.”
Prince Charles’s intention to trim down the Royal Family is understood to have infuriated Prince Andrew, who fears his daughter Eugenie and Beatrice will see their titles taken away.
Prince Charles has been one of the key players in the negotiations of the terms of the Sussexes’ exit deal.
The Prince of Wales first spoke to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after they published their bombshell statement regarding their intention to step back as senior royals.

A few days later, he attended the Sandringham summit with the Queen, Prince William and Prince Harry, where the Duke of Sussex discussed possible ways for him and Meghan to leave the family as a full-time working royal.
Prince Harry himself revealed earlier this week he didn’t get the terms he was hoping for in a heartfelt speech during an event dedicated to his charity Sentebale.
He said: “What I want to make clear is we’re not walking away, and we certainly aren’t walking away from you.
“Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the commonwealth, and my military associations, but without public funding.
“Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible.
“I’ve accepted this, knowing that it doesn’t change who I am or how committed I am.
“But I hope that helps you understand what it had to come to, that I would step my family back from all I have ever known, to take a step forward into what I hope can be a more peaceful life.”
Prince Harry and Meghan had asked in their first statement, dated January 8, to step back as senior royals while retaining the right to carry out engagements on behalf of the Queen.
The Sussexes also asked to be able to live between the UK and North America and work on private projects.
