UKIP will help Britons "get back control" of their communities after Brexit, leader Paul Nuttall vowed tonight.
Ukip leader Paul Nuttall launched the party's local election campaign tonight
Launching the anti-EU party's local election campaign, the MEP hit out at establishment politicians and council fat-cats.
He said: "We will make sure residents get value for money from their councils, and the services that they deserve.
"Ukip councillors are not whipped, like old party councillors. We tell our councillors to put community before party."
The establishment parties have let this situation happen
Mr Nuttall cited shocking research showing 539 council bosses have higher salaries than Theresa May.
And some are even paid more than Donald Trump, according to figures released by the Taxpayers' Alliance pressure group.
The 40-year-old said: "The establishment parties have let this situation happen. It has been on their watch."
The outspoken MEP attacked council fat cats who earn more than the PM
Local elections will be held across the UK on May 4.
Ukip is defending more than 140 council seats won in 2013 in England.
And party officials hope the momentum from last year's historic Brexit vote will lead Ukip to further success.

Mr Nuttall, who replaced Nigel Farage as party leader in December, added: "Ukip will put residents first.
"Voting Ukip has led to people beginning to get back control of their country.
"In May, they have the opportunity to vote and begin to get back control of their communities."
