No flair or vision! Nigel Farage launches extraordinary attack on PM's failure over Brexit
NIGEL FARAGE took a swipe at Theresa May as he furiously claimed she did not have the “flair, excitement or vision” to deliver on Brexit.
Farage: PM lacks the flair or vision to make Brexit success
The former Ukip leader said he had been “patient” with the prime minister but feared she would not be able to lead the country into its “new chapter”.
He accused Mrs May of dawdling and not being passionate about the opportunities Britain’s historic vote to quit the EU had brought.
Clearly irritated, Mr Farage told Fox News: “I’ve waited for six months, I’ve been patient for six months and I’ve given the prime minister the benefit of the doubt for six months.
Nigel Farage accused Theresa May of lacking "flair, excitement or vision" over Brexit
I don’t think she has the flair, the excitement or vision for what we need
He continued: “But after [Sunday] I have to say that I don’t think she has the flair, the excitement or vision for what we need to lead this country on to a new chapter.”
The 52-year-old’s comments were made after Theresa May said she was not prepared to “keep bits of EU membership” during her first TV interview of 2017.
She said: “I’ve consistently said that the referendum vote was a vote for us to change – that vote for freedom of movement was a vote for us to bring control into our immigration system for people coming from the European Union. “
But the Conservative leader’s remarks were soon shot down by Angela Merkel.
The German Chancellor made it clear that unless Britain adopts all four of the European Union’s key freedoms then access to the single market will be denied.
Nigel Farage appeared on Fox News ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration next week
Nigel Farage, speaking ahead of his trip to Washington for the inauguration of Donald Trump, said the prime minister should be concentrating on striking up a better relationship with the incoming US president.
“Next Friday, in Washington, there will be swearing in of the 45th president of the USA – somebody who recognises the close relationship historically and culturally between our two countries,” Mr Farage said.
“What she should be doing is grabbing that opportunity in my opinion with both hands,” he finished.

Boris Johnson hails US-UK relationship in Washington D.C.
On Tuesday, Boris Johnson claimed the UK is “first in line” for a trade deal with the US post-Brexit.
The Foreign Secretary had been on a visit to New York to hold talks with the president-elect’s advisors, just days before he is sworn into office.
In contrast to Barack Obama – who warned Britain would be at “the back of the queue” when it came to Brexit trade talks – Mr Trump is said to be eager to take a different approach.
After the meeting held at Trump Tower in New York, Mr Johnson said: “Clearly, the Trump administration-to-be has a very exciting agenda of change.
"We hear that we are first in line to do a great free-trade deal with the United States.
"So, it's going to be a very exciting year for both our countries."
