NICOLA Sturgeon faces the Scottish Parliament for First Minister's Questions once a week, giving MSPs the chance to grill her on Brexit, Scottish independence and the big issues of the day. But when are they and how do they work?

What are FMQs?
First Minister’s Questions (FMQs) are the Scottish equivalent of PMQs and give MSPs an opportunity to quiz Ms Sturgeon.
Questions for the First Minister can be tabled up to three days before FMQs. The presiding officer chooses six queries to be put forward during the session, usually delivered by the leaders of the opposition – Ruth Davidson and Kezia Dugdale.
Once Ms Sturgeon has given her answer, the MSP may follow-up with supplementary questions.
The presiding officer may then call members from other parties to ask questions on the same subject.

When are FMQs on?
First Minister’s Questions happens every Thursday at 12pm and lasts for around half an hour.

How to get tickets for FMQs
Tickets for individuals groups of up to five people can be booked seven days in advance of each session by calling 01313485200 or 08000927600.
There are only 43 of these tickets available each week so demand is high. Those wishing to attend are advised to call as close to 9am as possible and to not hang up.
Those wishing to book for groups of between six up to a maximum of 15 people can reserve tickets for sessions throughout the parliamentary year by calling the same phone numbers or emailing visit@parliament.scot.
Subject to availability, visitors may be able to watch FMQs from a Committee Room. These seats are allocated from 10am at the Visitor Information Desk on the day and are limited to one pass per person.
