Nigel Farage was already targeted on the campaign trail earlier this month when a young woman threw a milkshake at him.

A protester has thrown objects at Nigel Farage in Barnsley town centre, narrowly missing the Reform UK leader.

Mr Farage said he believes the objects were some wet cement from a work site followed by a coffee cup.

He was on the top of the Reform battle bus when the incident happened.

Mr Farage had just addressed supporters but was interrupted by a crowd of demonstrators.

Police arrested the man who threw the objects. Mr Farage said he had been warned by police not to get off the bus.

The Reform leader thanked the police for their quick intervention and insisted he would not be intimidated by his opponents.

Writing on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, Mr Farage said: "My huge thanks to South Yorkshire Police today.

"I will not be bullied or cowed by a violent left-wing mob who hate our country."

Mr Farage already faced a physical attack last week after announcing he planned to contest the Clacton-on-Sea seat on July 4's general election.

A 25-year-old woman approached the Reform leader as he was leaving a pub following an election event and threw a drink at him.

Victoria Thomas Bowen was charged with assault by beating and criminal damage after she threw a banana milkshake at Mr Farage, Essex Police confirmed.

The attack came two days after Mr Farage confirmed he had changed his plans and would run for election after previously stating he would not participate in the poll.

His decision delivered a further blow to an already struggling Conservative Party as Rishi Sunak has seen his chances of victory consistently decrease since announcing the upcoming election.
