The safest Tory seat in the country has been revealed where the MP is defending a majority of 31,000 votes. Sir John Hayes has held South Holland and The Deepings seat in the East Midlands since it was created in 1997.

The Conservative candidate who is running again this year has not faced strict opposition for his seat. He won it in 2019 with a vote of 75.9 percent and a majority of more than 30,000, the highest of any Conservative in any constituency in any general election since Kensington South in 1995.

South Holland also delivered the second-highest leave vote in the 2016 European Referendum with a 73.6 percent withdrawal vote. Hayes described Britain's withdrawal from the EU as something "I've believed in for my whole life" in October 2018.

South Holland and the Deepings Conservatives have now launched their general election campaign.

Conservative candidate Sir John Hayes said: “I’m honoured to have been chosen, once again, by local Conservatives to continue my work standing up for our country – it’s proud past, present and future – and speaking up for local people, as I have year in, year out.
